The More Insight into Learning Strategies (MILS) inventory has been around for more than 25 years and stems from research into adult learning strategies. Since 2012 the MILS inventory has been continued by an independently operating company in Leidschendam, Bureau van Bodegom.
Recently, the MILS inventory was extended to include work preferences with the aim of making employees aware of their own work preferences those of their colleagues. By taking into account the way in which employees process information and, for example, adapting the degree of structure, movement and collaboration to the individual, communication in the workplace can be significantly improved. In addition, the training budget of the organization can be used more effectively.

MILS for Business is part of Bureau van Bodegom, founded by Marjolein van Bodegom. She is a Cognitive Psychologist and has specialized in effective and efficient information processing by the brain. Marjolein is a PhD student at Maastricht University and she conducts scientific research into the validity and reliability of the MILS inventory.
She also has 13 years of experience as a Senior Change Management Consultant for the top 500 companies in the Netherlands , she worked for three years internationally as a project officer at the ICT research program of the European Commission, and she was deputy director at the language institute Taleninstituut Eurolinguist.
The MILS inventory is used in many fields, from education to government, and from scale-ups to large international companies. Experienced HR advisors and HR business partners use MILS as an instrument to strengthen teams and better spend their training budget.
For pupils and students, there is the learning preference inventory, and for companies there is MILS for Business. You also see the MILS methodology appearing more and more in works council training courses because of its applicability for cross-disciplinary teams.
The MILS inventory is available in four languages (Dutch, English, German and Russian) and is conducted by an enthusiastic team of more than 75 MILS coaches throughout the Netherlands. The MILS coaches have at least an HBO diploma and they have a very diverse background, for example in HR, education or law, which means they can also focus on specific target groups.
Certified MILS for Business coaches are specifically trained to conduct the MILS inventory among employees of organizations and to use MILS to improve communication within teams, for example.
